What am I craving?

It's time to make some choices.

CraveTV is coming, so naturally this got me thinking about my television viewing habits.  Of course there are the old staples that I will gravitate toward when I’m feeling indecisive, lazy or just want some background-noise, but what if I’m feeling risky? (Not to be confused with risqué–that’s a completely different list…)  What if I want to take a chance and dip my toe into the television unknown and try out a new series?  After briefly perusing CraveTV’s catalog, here are some choice candidates I have come up with…

The Pacific

An HBO joint, so it’s safe.  The production value seems high, and I have always been a sucker for war, thematically.  The series is a companion piece to the 2001 miniseries ‘Band of Brothers‘ (something else I haven’t seen, but whatever) and focuses on the United States Marine Corps’ actions in the Pacific Theater of Operations within the wider Pacific War.

I don’t know much about this show other than it stars Keith Mars and that it’s filmed in Toronto, which leads me to believe that it is some sort of ‘Veronica Mars‘-prequel about his days spent as SWAT officer in Toronto.  I’m in.  Even if it sucks, I like to see if I can recognize Pizza Pizza’s near my house IRL.

All of my friends and colleagues look at me with judgmental-eyes for having not watched this HBO-darling.  I love westerns (even more so than war-themed stories) so I think this is a safe bet.

The Following

I quit watching Kevin Bacon-everything after watching ‘Sleepers‘ because he did such a great job of portraying a monstrous prison guard.  I just couldn’t see him as any other character.  Maybe this story about a former FBI agent and his attempts to re-capture a serial killer following the latter’s escape from prison, will be enough to cleanse my Bacon-palette?

Key & Peele

This is one of those shows that I watch a million individual clips of online from friends who have posted them on their Facebook wall, but I never sit down and enjoy in its entirety, as intended.  I’m basically one of those people who “only smoke socially”, but instead of cigarettes, I consume ‘Key & Peele’ sketches.
