Watch The One Scene You Missed On ‘The Walking Dead’ Premiere

The Walking Dead‘ season five premiere stands out as one of the show’s very best episodes to date, complete with wall-to-wall action, emotional reunions, and walkers aplenty. But the biggest scene of the night came at the very end of the episode — and unless you stuck around through the credits, you missed it.

Here’s the scene:

That’s right: Morgan Jones is back!

First seen in the series premiere, and last seen in season three’s excellent “Clear,” Morgan, played by Lennie James, is one of those little-seen but frequently-requested characters on “The Walking Dead,” with fans always wondering where and when he’ll pop up next. Well, those questions are answered: Here, and now.

It’s worth noting that the last time we saw Morgan, he was a little bit… off, to put it nicely. Morgan’s unhinged mental state was perfectly understandable, considering that his zombie wife killed and turned his only son, leaving Morgan completely alone with a whole lot of weapons and a whole lot of walkers to clear. He refused Rick’s offer to join the prison community, opting instead for a lonely life of zombie-killing.

Clearly, since then, Morgan has changed his mind, now that he’s back on Rick’s trail. But how did he get as far as Terminus without encountering any of the show’s many characters?

“I like to think he got to that prison and was like, ‘Wait, what’s going on? Like, everyone’s gone now?’” Robert Kirkman tells Entertainment Weekly. “So yeah, he’s actually on their trail, and the Terminus thing is helping him hopefully stay on that trail. And it’s certainly a question as to whether he’ll meet up with them, or when he’ll meet up with them, but we’ve got a lot of big plans for the character of Morgan, so stay tuned.”

“There’s a Morgan story to tell,” show runner Scott Gimple adds in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. It’s the beginning of something but I’m not going to say what it is, or how involved it is.”

Looks like it’s time to start asking those “where and when” questions all over again.

What did you think of Morgan’s return?
