This War For The Planet Of The Apes Trailer Is Bananas

The first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes just dropped and it has apes with guns on horseback in the snow—so you know this movie is going to be good. Directed by Matt Reeves, this is the third in the franchise, which began with 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (also directed by Reeves), and features Andy Serkis reviving his role as the leader of the apes, Caesar.

As the title of suggests, humans and apes are now at full-blown war, and the apes are facing their greatest rival yet, the fervent “Colonel,” played by Woody Harrelson. The apes have formed an army, and they’re ready to take control.

There are a lot of apes in this film—more than we’ve seen previously in the franchise—and it’s building itself up to be the most visually epic ape film yet, which is saying something.

War for the Planet of the Apes hits theatres July 14, 2017.
