This New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5 Footage Hints At Tyrion’s Fate
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
After a long, dark winter, we’re finally getting our first taste of new “Game of Thrones” material.
Buried at the end of this new preview for HBO’s upcoming IMAX screenings is about two seconds (literally) of new footage from the show’s fifth season, which premieres April 12.
OK, so the new material is really short, but it at least gives us a glimpse of Tyrion’s fate. For those needing a refresher, our fave Lannister — played by Peter Dinklage — was falsely accused of murdering Joffrey, then fled the city with Varys after killing Shae and his father.
In the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it new footage, we see Tyrion rolling out of a wooden crate, looking haggard and sporting a gnarly beard. Judging by his worn-out expression, T’s life outside King’s Landing probably hasn’t been the best for him (and he probably hasn’t had a sip of wine in ages), but at least we know he’s alive.
If that’s not enough to quench your thirst, HBO also released a trailer for its upcoming behind-the-scenes special, “Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life,” premiering February 8. Thankfully, there’s a little more to see here, including a glimpse at the Sand Snakes and the Wildlings.
What do you think of the new footage, “Game of Thrones” fans? Sound off in the comments!
