This Former Teen Heartthrob Has Joined The Cast Of ‘True Detective’
In the mood for a quick pop music history lesson?
Look up former teen heartthrob Rick Springfield.
Yes, that Rick Springfield.
The “Jessie’s Girl” singer announced on Twitter Wednesday (December 10) that he has joined the cast for the second season of HBO’s True Detective.
Just finished my 1st day of shooting for season 2 of HBO’s True Detective. What a great script. Working w/ Colin Farrell & Rachel McAdams!

While the extent of Springfield’s role is unknown, the 65-year old’s casting isn’t as unorthodox as it may seem. The former General Hospital actor played himself on Showtime’s Californication and has a role in the Jonathan Demme-directed film, Ricki and the Flash.
With a resume like that, he should be able to hold his own alongside Ferrell, McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn.
True Detective returns in summer 2015 on HBO.
