Finn’s Latest Mission: Delivering Toys To Sick Kids

An overnight superstar thanks to The Force Awakens, John Boyega is probably being flooded with opportunities to profit from his newfound fame. However, that hasn’t stopped him from using it for far more charitable purposes. Over the weekend, Boyega got into costume as Finn and headed over to the Royal London Hospital for an afternoon visit organized by Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. According to this organization’s website, they brighten “the lives of seriously ill children in the UK aged three to 18 years old by granting wishes… and organising outings and large scale events for seriously ill children.”

Boyega’s visit was the brainchild of Daniel Bell, a 5-year-old boy who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Daniel desperately wanted to meet Finn, but he insisted on sharing this opportunity with his fellow patients. “Rather than having Finn to himself, he wanted Finn to meet the kids at the Royal London Hospital and give them some toys,” Boyega explained. “I stayed in character while I was with this brave boy, asking him what a car was. He taught Finn about everything Earth related! Really thankful for the opportunity this child granted me and I’m just humbled! I hope I played a little part in making you smile, young stormtrooper.”
