New Ghostbusters Posters Show Us Who We’re Gonna Call

While the credits for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot suggest a straight-up comedy, the images released so far imply that it might also be an occasionally serious science fiction film. Four new posters were released yesterday—one for each of the title characters—and they are lighter on laughs than you might expect. Aside from Leslie Jones’s “Patty” necklace, the heart on Kate McKinnon’s proton pack, and the arguably phallic nature of Melissa McCarthy’s particle thrower, these posters suggest a relatively straight-faced sci-fi movie. With so little known about the new Ghostbusters, it’s intriguing to imagine the possibilities, but it seems relatively safe to say there will be plenty of laughs with all that ghost-zappin’.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Feig had nothing but good things to say about the four core cast members highlighted in the new posters. “They are four incredibly talented women, each with a unique voice and style of comedy,” he said. “The fact that they meshed so well and complemented each other so well made this team of paranormal warriors a very interesting and fully-rounded group.”

The new posters offer a colourful (if eye-less) introduction to these characters. Reader, meet the Ghostbusters.
