Marvel Is Hunting Whoever Leaked The ‘Avengers’ Trailer

The Avengers' new nemesis: John Gazelle

The first trailer for any movie is a hugely important piece of marketing, but when the stakes are as high as they are for “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” that first preview can set the tone for the months leading up to release.

That’s why Marvel is taking going after whoever leaked the first trailer for their 2015 tentpole almost a week early.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Marvel has gone to a federal court in California in hopes that Google will hand over the IP address of the Drive user named John Gazelle.

It’s believed that whoever John Gazelle is uploaded the first trailer for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” to his Google Drive account on October 22, which then led to its leak on YouTube. Google was quick to remove the trailer once the clip surfaced online, but Marvel wants to know how it happened in the first place.

The leak came several days before the “Age of Ultron” trailer was set to premiere during an episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and forced Marvel to officially release it shortly after.

And if I know anything about Marvel, they have a particularly strong preference for justice.

Avengers: Age of Ultron” opens in theaters on May 1.
