Here’s Our First Taste Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Mark your calendars for May 5, 2017, because that’s when the hotly anticipated sequel to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy hits screens. This morning, director James Gunn confirmed “official photography” for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has begun. He even disclosed the full cast of returning stars and newcomers, like Kurt Russell, who’s “more awesome a dude than [Gunn] ever could have imagined.” We’re guessing (maybe even almost certain) Russell will be playing Star-Lord’s enigmatic papa.

Other new cast announcements include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan, who will be joining Vol. 1 (we can call it that now, right?) alums Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan (woo!), Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Glenn Close.

And here’s a vague one-liner from Marvel/Disney’s press release that came out in tandem with Gunn’s Facebook message:

“Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.”

Still not hooked on a feeling? Maybe this shadowy Facebook image of our beloved Guardians will win you over.

Official photography on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has started, and I couldn’t be more stoked. My favorite movie as…
