Grant Gustin Says Fans Are Going To Be ‘Shocked’ By Zoom’s Identity On The Flash

Who is Zoom?

Earth-2’s Barry Allen, Henry Allen, Eobard Thawne, and even Nora Allen are all characters’ names that have been tossed around by fans as to who the supervillain might be on The Flash.

Even the cast is getting in on the fun.

“I think if it would be really cool if it was Earth-2 Barry, I think that would be a nice change for him to play that duality,” says Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow.

“I think a lot of the fans think it’s (Barry’s dad) Henry Allen, I’ve seen that tweeted a lot so it’s exciting. And Zoom, he’s our Big Bad of the season, I don’t know if we’re going to get any answers anytime soon but we are going to slowly find out more and more information about him.”

Jesse Martin, who plays Det. Joe West, is also dying to know who Zoom might be.

“We all sit around and speculate who it could be but we don’t know who it is and they haven’t told us thank God and I certainly don’t want to know until it happens but Zoom’s identity is a big deal so far. All we know is what Zoom is right now and he’s pretty damn scary looking,” says Martin.

But while everyone is speculating, it seems like Grant Gustin, who plays Barry Allen/The Flash, is the only one who actually knows.

“I know who Zoom is. I found out recently actually … People are going to be shocked. Like last year, where it’s twists on top of twists so even when you think you have it figured out there’s something else, there’s another curveball.”

Could this curveball be that Zoom actually exists on Earth-1 and not Earth-2 as everyone assumes? According to a post in EW, Zoom could be Hunter Zolomon, Jay Garrick’s newfound doppelganger.

It was revealed on this week’s episode of The Flash that Jay (who hails from Earth-2 and thought he didn’t have an Earth-1 counterpart) found Zoloman, an ordinary man whose mother died during childbirth and was adopted by the Zolomon family. Because Jay’s DNA is mutated, he doesn’t think he can use Hunter’s DNA to cure his terminal illness, meaning the only way he can be cured is to stop Zoom.

But the interesting twist is that in the world of DC Comics, Hunter Zoloman is Zoom. Could this be the reason he stole Jay’s speed?

Curveball indeed.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8e 5p on CTV.
