4 New Actors Join Ghostbusters Cast

Updates on next year’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot are pouring in fast and furious—and we’re doing our best to keep up. In recent weeks, we gave you the scoop on Emma Stone’s decision to say “no” and Chris Hemsworth’s decision to say “yes.” It now looks like four more actors have followed Hemsworth’s lead, giving us even more reason to be optimistic about this long-awaited franchise revival.

Proving director Paul Feig recognizes the importance of dramatic chops, he has hired Andy Garcia (the Ocean’s trilogy) and Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) in supporting roles. He has also improved the film’s comedic pedigree with the addition of Matt Walsh (Veep) and SNL cast member Cecily Strong.

At this point, we’re still in the dark about Strong’s character, but we do know the names of Williams’ and Walsh’s characters (Hawkins and Rourke respectively). While Andy Garcia seems like a natural fit for a motion capture Slimer, The Wrap reports that he has been cast as the Mayor of New York City.

This foursome joins an already stellar cast that includes Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig. We still have many more details to uncover, but in the meantime, take a closer look at the movie’s proton packs, which Feig tweeted on Sunday.
