Light Up Your Canada Day With The Return Of Dark Matter

Since the conclusion of Dark Matter season one, fans have been anxiously awaiting the show’s return—and they can now mark their calendars for the big day: Friday, July 1. Averaging more than half a million viewers in its first season, Dark Matter emerged as the most-watched new series on any Canadian specialty channel in 2015. It’s no surprise, then, that fans can expect big things from season two. Producers have padded out the already impressive cast with the addition of Melanie Liburd (Game of Thrones), Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place), and Franka Potente (veteran of Run Lola Run and two Bourne movies). The latter makes a memorable guest appearance as Commander Shaddick, “a cool, calculated force of nature who’s hell-bent on making things difficult for the Raza crew.”

If you still haven’t watched the first season, you can catch a complete marathon beginning at 8am ET on Friday, July 1. In the meantime, here’s a quick recap form the season two press release: “Dark Matter navigates through a fragmented crew aboard a derelict spaceship, the Raza, with no memory of how they got there. Facing threats at every turn, they work together to survive a voyage fuelled by vengeance, betrayal, and hidden secrets.” As for the new episodes, it’s safe to say the intrigue is about to reach new heights: “Season 2 finds the crew of the Raza embroiled in an intergalactic conspiracy, seeking a mysterious device that may hold the key to victory in a looming all-out corporate war.”

Beginning Friday, July 1, Space unveils 13 new episodes of Dark Matter on Fridays at 10 pm ET, airing after all-new episodes of Killjoys. For more details about the upcoming season, check out our recent report from Toronto ComicCon.
