Cara Delevingne Ran Naked Through A Muddy Forest To Prepare For Suicide Squad
Up until now, Jared Leto is the Suicide Squad star whose unusual creative process has gotten the most attention. But forget about that Joker for now, because apparently Cara Delevingne’s gotten a little crazy herself.
The actress recently opened up to W magazine about how she nabbed the role of Enchantress in the antihero flick, which opens Aug. 5. Spoiler alert: it involves stripping, streaking, and howling.
“I met the director, David Ayer, at a hotel in London on a dark and stormy night,” Delevingne began. “He didn’t tell me anything about the movie. Instead, he showed me pictures of these amazing, enlightened, powerful, but very evil women. He spoke to me about addiction and mental illness, which are things I find very, very interesting.”
Delevingne then recounted the second time she met Ayer, at his home in Los Angeles. There, he asked her to read a scene from the playWho’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which she said she’d acted in as a teen.
“Somehow, when we were doing the scene, I became livid,” she said. “I hadn’t felt rage like that in years. And then I got the part! There still wasn’t a script, but David asked me to go and try and find a forest and, if it was a full moon, get naked and walk through the woods with my feet in the mud, which I did. There wasn’t a full moon, but I howled like a wolf. It would have been really funny if someone had seen me.”
But if no one was around to witness Cara Delevingne streak through a muddy forest, did it ever really happen?
