The Avengers Are Divided In 6 New Civil War Posters

If you can say it with six posters, why say it with one? When it comes to Captain America: Civil War, that’s the philosophy Marvel and Disney are getting behind. With the film’s release now less than two months away, fans are getting riled up for war with six new character posters that offer an ominous warning: “divided we fall.”

This marketing strategy appears to be a perfect fit for the film’s story of discord and division. As laid out in the official synopsis, Civil War’s strangely politicized plot sounds like the ideal election-year showdown—with Tony Stark playing the pro-oversight Democrat to Steve Rogers’ anti-regulation Republican:

“After another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.”

It sounds like Marvel’s opening a political can of worms with this one. Find out what’s really going on when Captain America: Civil War opens in theatres May 6. In the meantime, see if you can tease out some new clues from the trailer below.
