Keanu Reeves Has Excellent News For Bill & Ted Fans

If you were a PG-aged moviegoer in 1989, there’s a good chance you spent some stellar time with Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. A cult classic from the minute it hit theatres, this movie went on to become one of the surprise hits of 1989. Tapping into roughly the same fanbase that made Wayne’s World a blockbuster three years later, Bill & Ted inspired a comic, a TV show, some video games, a cereal, and a sequel: Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. But for those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the threequel, progress has been distressingly slow. In fact, a full 25 years have passed since a Bill & Ted’s last movie. No way!

Fortunately, we have a most excellent development to report: Keanu Reeves says a third Bill & Ted movie is totally in the works. Yes way! “We’re closer and we’re not closer,” he told IGN. “We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio, so we have a little bit of support… if the material comes through, we’ll try and make this picture.”

By the time Bill & Ted came along, Keanu Reeves had already made a name for himself with movies like River’s Edge, but Ted is the character that catapulted him to full blown movie star status. With that in mind, we’re guessing he still feels a special connection to the series—he did collaborate with Bill recently—and that bodes well for a most radical sequel. While you wait for that to happen, be sure to time travel back to the first two movies with the bodacious trailers below.
